We've got the CURE at CASology

This week at CASology, we've got you covered if you need a good dose of happy.
Our cue card this week is: CURE

I immediately thought of medicine (I am a pharmacist after all) and the little jingle by Mary Poppins. I had no idea that I actually had a stamp set that could make it all come together...yep, I'm using the same set from last week, Concord & 9th's Let's Chat stamp set. I did a little stamp surgery for the sentiment too.

If you look closely at the spoons, you can see I used some Rock Candy Distress Stickles for the sugar. Love, love, love that it looks just like sugar!!

You've really got to check out the DT this week for some great takes on the cue card!
Don't forget to show a little crafty love to our Guest Designer and Sponsor too.

Sun and Sand One Last Time at CASology

As we wrap up the summer fun, CASology wants to invite you to wiggle your toes in the sand and show us your salt life cards one last time for the year. This week's cue card: BEACH.

I used some watercolors and ink smooshing to create this card (only like my favorite techniques lol). I loved how the brown fading into the blue gives the look of sand leading to the water. The inlaid die cut sun is from Lil' Inker Designs and really pops against the blue. I heat embossed the sentiment from Lawn Fawn's "Hello Sunshine" stamp set. Other than piecing the cutouts around the sun, this card was super quick and easy to make :)

Swim on over to the DT  blogs this week and see how they're celebrating the end of summer. And show some love to our guest designer and sponsor too!

Painting Penny Black

I was asked to fulfill a very tall order in making a special card. Trust me, when I was informed of the recipient, I scratched my entire creative brain to come up with a card worthy of giving to her. All I knew was that I was using:
1- something floral from Penny Black
2- purple and red to color the flowers
3- something with shimmer/sparkle

Here's the end product and I am totally pleased with this card :)

What made this card so special in the end:
  1. Ink smooshing for the win! I love this technique for backgrounds :) I used Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays in Luminous Lemon (no shimmer) and Bling-y Blonde (shimmer).
  2. The Izink pigment inks- they provide great coverage (colored over the yellow) and they have a beautiful shimmer.
  3. I created dimension by stamping and coloring a few extra blossoms and leaves to pop up with foam tape.
  4. The added touches of white gel pen to the blossoms and leaves, the splatters (of course I couldn't resist), and the text stamping in the background (added it at the end actually).

I can't wait to hear how it went over! Thanks for stopping by and looking in on this card :)
