To the Moon with Clever Dexter

Is it me, or has there been a lot of space talk in the news lately? It's easy to see why we'd like to get away from our planet :)

I'm guest designing again today at the Clever Dexter blog using another cool image from an amazing sponsor - La Casetta Di Chicca. I had a blast (pun intended LOL) making this card!

I thought it would be cool pop this little guy inside the rocket. Using some photo editing software to combine the images, our adventurous astronaut is waving to say hi!

The galaxy background is watercolored with some of my favorite super pigmented watercolors; the yellow stars are stenciled on and heat embossed; and the black stars and hints of galaxy flashes are stenciled in black. Check out all of my supplies below.

In case you didn't guess, the theme for the month is: Use a Stencil :)

Check out how to play along below and be sure to share in the gallery before August 31st.
I can't wait to see what you create!

My Boo! Guest Designing for Clever Dexter Challenge

What's up everybody! I'm back to guest design on the Clever Dexter Challenge blog and bring you some coloring goodness thanks to our fab sponsor of the month: ODDBALL STAMPS. We're heading towards Halloween and I'm loving the spooky creations for this month's challenge! The theme is: HERE FOR THE BOOS and inspiration colors are: GREEN, PURPLE, ORANGE, WHITE, & BLACK.

For this card, I started with the Ms Ann Thrax digital stamp from Oddball Stamps. I had a little photo-editing software fun (flipped the image to look the opposite direction and added a bat to her headband). If you haven't followed my work before, I love to add an ethnic spin to images, so after it was printed and dried, I added the curls to her hair by hand using a Faber Castell pen. This lays the groundwork for some cute, dark, coily hair.

The next step is to pull out my Copic markers and get to work. I used a stack of purples, greens, grays, reds, and oranges for this image. If you're interested, the list of markers are at the end of this post.

For the sentiments, I used another Oddball Stamp digital set called Creepy Cute Sentiments Banners and Badges. This set has a ton of awesome halloweeny options that you can customize! By the way, I grabbed the heart and bats from that set too :)

For my background, I used some embossing ink smooshed through the Dot Fade THS 006 stencil by Tim Holtz, and then coated it with orange embossing powder. Head over to my Instagram page for a close-up!

I hope you love Ms. Ann Thrax as much I as loved making this card! Please link up and play along for a chance to win a prize from Oddball Stamps. See ya!

I'm also joining at:

Copic colors:
Skin: E23, E25, E27
Eyeshadow, Jacket & Shoes: V04, V06, V09
Vest, Leggings, Tag: YG06, YG13, YG17, YG67
Skirt: YR02, YR04, YR07
Lipstick, Glasses, Eyeball, Heart: R24, R29, R89

Clever Dexter Challenge is Hitting the Books

I'm having a blast guest designing over at the Clever Dexter Challenge blog! What a great concoction we're crafting with this month! The 9th challenge is perfect for the new school year,  with a twist of color.

Stampers Delights is such a great sponsor and has gifted their digi stamps to use for this Clever Dexter Challenge.

I'm using the Story Time and Chibi School Girl Jill images (which I flipped and resized two additional times) to create a scrapbook page that would be great for a school-themed page. I use Photoshop Elements with my digi stamps to truly personalize my layouts.

In sticking with the color inspiration for this challenge, I used the same colors for her outfits, but just switched up each article of clothing. This was a lot of Copic coloring fun. I love how Stampers Delight images have just enough detail to give you some idea of how to color, but still leave it up to your imagination. I even handwrote the subjects on the book spines.

Colors (loads of them):
Skin: E11, E13, E15
Hair & Shoes: 100, C9, C7
Eyes: E37
Lipstick: R29
Clothing: Yellows: Y02, Y06, Y15
Pinks: RV00, RV02, RV04
Teals: BG11, BG23, BG57
Books: see Ys, Rs, & BGs above plus YR000, YR02, YR14
Purse: C5, C3, C1

I added bits and pieces of ephemera from my stash to ground my images...I didn't want them standing in space :) Also, the Story Time (book image) digi stamp is perfect for journaling and adding a couple of photos.

I hope you want to join this Clever Dexter Concoction!
Hit the Book, maybe use our colors, grab a couple of Stampers Delights digis (though not required to win), and make something awesomely creative!

Thanks for stopping by!

Triple Embossing and Guest Designing at AAA Cards

I'm super excited to be joining the AAA Cards challenge as the guest designer!
They always have some great CAS themes and inspiration cards from their DT.
For the next 2 weeks, it's all about embossing.

I used the theme 3 different ways (crazy huh lol)!

I did some multicolored heat embossing on the butterflies and flower, some dry embossing to create the texture on the card, and embossing with dies to make the butterflies and flower pop!
This sweet stamp set and coordinating dies are from Stamplorations- Buttercups and Butterflies.

I hope you can play along and thanks for stopping by!

I Love Messy! and a Giveaway

Hopefully, you've have come to adore the newest release from Precious Remembrance Shop!
I've had a blast guest designing this month and showcasing some fun ways
to use this awesome stamp set!

Check out the Happy Art Stamp set!

My crazy fun card:

I got to make some organized chaos for this card :) How?
  1. Take some spray inks or stains and let them run down the side of the card. I dried each color with a heat tool before adding the next. I used Spun Sugar, Stormy Sky, Shaded Lilac, and Evergreen Bough Distress Stains.
  2. Stamp the trio of hearts and triangles in rows using different color inks. Add a few of the single hearts.
  3. Use a deep black ink to stamp the small splatter stamp and sentiment. You can layer the splatters to make them appear larger!
  4. The last bits of magic are splashes of the stains and Wink of Stella over the all the black ink! Yessss to sparkle :)
I love this watery look and it's perfect for the sentiment.

Since I've enjoyed this stamp set so much, I want to gift one in a GIVEAWAY!
Just leave a comment below or on my Instagram page telling me what
you love about this stamp set by Friday 11:59 PM PST
Winner will be selected at random and announced on Saturday morning!

I'm also playing along at:

Happy Art Flowers with Precious Remembrance Shop

Time to use your imagination a bit! I’m super excited to share my third post as Guest Designer for Precious Remembrance Shop's new release of the Happy Art Stamp Set...and this card is full of flowers that I made using these super artsy stamps. Yes, flowers!!
The stamp set, in case you've missed it:

My card

I was playing with these stamps and had a total “wowsers” moment.
If I use the large ink splat with the small splatter on the inside, it looks like a flower!
To make them:
  1. Ink the large splat really well with the lighter color, then tap the darker color around the edges only of the stamp and stamp onto your paper. Repeat with your color combos. I used Distress Inks in Spun Sugar/Picked Raspberry; Peacock Feathers/Evergreen Bough, and Twisted Citron/Lucky Clover.
  2. Lighten the center by lifting some of the color from the paper: use a water brush with just plain water, then dab with a paper towel. This is why I used Distress Inks, but optional :)
  3. Ink the small splatter stamp with a good, rich black ink (like Versamark) and stamp in the center of each flower.
  4. Stamp the solid and open triangles  from the set and sponge ink into the corners.
  5. Spice it up with some Liquid Pearls dotted in the center of each flower!
The sentiment is also from Precious Remembrance Shop’s, New Day Stamp Set.

I love abstract thinking, and I really hope you enjoyed stretching this stamp set with me!

I'm also playing along with:

Can't Resist this Tag!

Get ready to get totally inky! I'm back for my second post as Guest Designer for Precious Remembrance Shop's new release of the Happy Art Stamp Set...and the gift tag I made
using these super artsy stamps...WOWSERS!!

The stamp set, in case you've missed it:

My gift tag!

What a way to give a gift! And it really was easy to make...
thanks to that magical technique called "resist" :) To make this tag:
  1. Pick several colors of inks/stains/sprays and cover a tag with them. I used Distress Stains in Mustard Seed, Picked Raspberry, Peacock Feathers, Festive Berries, Peeled Paint, and Ripe Persimmon.
  2. Make sure your tag is totally dry...no really, TOTALLY dry for this next step.
  3. Stamp your design using clear Versamark ink and heat emboss with detail/superfine clear embossing powder. You'll have to tilt the tag in the light to see the shiny areas so you know you like the design.
  4. Next comes the magic...take an ink blending tool or sponge dauber and cover the entire tag with black ink...seriously lol :) I used Black Soot Distress Ink. The embossed areas will resist the ink leaving these super amazing stamped images!
  5. Carefully clean off the embossed areas with a baby wipe for super bright colors.
  6. Stamp and heat emboss "yay!" on vellum with gold embossing powder and fussy cut. Adhere to tag.

Amazeballs right?! Totally worth getting my hands covered in ink! You have to swing by the Precious Remembrance Shop blog to see all the designs using this stamp set this month. I'm already plotting my next adventure with them. Thanks for stopping by!

New Release!! Happy Art from Precious Remembrance Shop

Thanks so much for joining us in this awesome blog hop to see a totally fabulous
new release from Precious Remembrance Shop! Check out the "Happy Art Stamps" set!

Yay! That was exactly what I thought when I saw this new stamp set. It definitely made me a happy stamper/crafter :) I think this set screams for some mixed media action...and I couldn't resist!

I created my background with some ink blending and a little spritz & flick technique; stitched lines (yeah, on a real sewing machine lol); some heavy body acrylic paint circles;
and a paper distressing tool for the edges.

Now the real fun- inking up this awesome stamp set!
  1. Alternate the "Happy Stamping" and "Happy Crafting" stamps in different colors.
  2. Stamp 3 sets of the trio of hearts on vellum and heat emboss using different EPs and cut out and adhere to card.
  3. Stamp that amazing ink splatter from the new stamp set in various spots on the card.
  4. Fill in spaces with the single heart stamp and the trio of hearts.
  5. Stamp the "yay!" on a die cut tag and heat emboss with a bright EP.

A little jute bow and kraft card base and you can call it a day!
And of course there's super sweet giveaway! In order to be entered to win you must:
