Create It Wednesday ~ Let's Snow at Precious Remembrance Shop

I’m back for my last Create It Wednesday post where I’m showcasing the awesome {Oh Christmas} Stamp Set. I couldn’t let the release pass without throwing in some snowflakes!

This sentiment from the stamp set is amazing and was the inspiration for my projects. The tag was actually a happy accident lol. I had a blast playing with Yupo paper, alcohol inks, blending solution, and a snowflake stencil. And I'm totally in love with these snowflake dies from Simon Says Stamp!

You can find the details for today's post and all of my Create It Wednesday projects from the release of the {Oh Christmas} Stamp Set over at the Precious Remembrance Shop blog. Thanks for stopping by…now, go create!

We've got the CURE at CASology

This week at CASology, we've got you covered if you need a good dose of happy.
Our cue card this week is: CURE

I immediately thought of medicine (I am a pharmacist after all) and the little jingle by Mary Poppins. I had no idea that I actually had a stamp set that could make it all come together...yep, I'm using the same set from last week, Concord & 9th's Let's Chat stamp set. I did a little stamp surgery for the sentiment too.

If you look closely at the spoons, you can see I used some Rock Candy Distress Stickles for the sugar. Love, love, love that it looks just like sugar!!

You've really got to check out the DT this week for some great takes on the cue card!
Don't forget to show a little crafty love to our Guest Designer and Sponsor too.

Coffee's On at CASology

This week, CASology is gonna stimulate some creative with our new cue card:

I wanted to stick with neutral tones for this card because the colors that the word coffee stirs up in mind are blacks, browns, and creams. I kept the coffee cup and saucer (from Concord & 9th's Let Chat set) simple and heat embossed the heart foam (also from the set) in white. I used Peerless watercolor to color the coffee a tan color...lots of creamer :)  I used the same watercolor on a snippet of paper for the sentiment, which is a set of adhesive letters called "Coffee House" (how awesome that I had these just laying around!) from Mrs.Grossman's stickers. A little patterned paper and coffee's on :)

Stir on over to the other DT blogs and give them a little pep with some sweet comments!

Spooky Week at CASology

It's CASology Tuesday and we've got a creepy
cool cue card for you this week: SPOOKY!

I got to indulge in my love for embossing powder :) Black cardstock doesn't get enough love, so I thought I'd give it a chance to shine; let those eyes peek at you in the dark. Speaking of eyes, the stamp is from The Alley Way set called Meltdown and the Boo! sentiment is from the Paper Smooches Halloweenies stamp set.

Now you should creep on over to the other DT blogs and see their awesome CAS cards this week!

"On My Craft Table" Kick-Off! & Giveaway!

One of the best aspects of crafting is sharing. I'm beginning a new series on my blog called "On My Craft Table" where I'll be sharing my new artsy finds, techniques, and tips. This is an exciting time for me, so I hope you enjoy and join me on this journey!

#onmycrafttable today is Copic coloring using 1) my favorite skin tones, 2) colors that aren't remotely close blending families, and 3) ways to create texture.

I'm working with new happy mail, a stamp from Penny Black called "winter fairy". I started with her skin, only because I knew what colors I was going to use.

Tip: Don't be afraid of contrast! It really makes your image come pop.
This is my favorite Copic skin tone combo simply because it mostly resembles my own. I took the Copic certification courses and really found that adding a little unblended BV to the darkest areas, really adds some contrast. In the pictures below, you can see E11, E13, E15 alone, then with BV23. Of course, it's all a matter of personal preference too :)

Tip: Don't be afraid to blend different color groups.
Here you can see on her wings, from top to bottom, I faded from B0000 to BV00 to RV00 with the darker B00 and BV02 closest to her back. It did take a little work, but I love the effect.  I used the same type of blending for the stripe behind her on the finished card. I added a little RV00 to all the furry areas as well.

Tip: Create texture with different types of strokes.
I used regular blending for the wings, dots to create the texture in her furry headband and puffs that swing from it, swirls and dots for her hair, and squiggles for her furry boots.

I adore how this image turned out! Especially after adding my fave Diamond Stickles!

I'm also sharing over at CAS(E) this Sketch! #193 and The Card Concept #59 (clean & simple)

GIVEAWAY TIME!
I want you to try this awesome mix of skin tones, so I'm gifting a set of the Copic marker colors I used to achieve this look- E11, E13, E15, and BV23.
