Rainbows for MOTHER's Day at CASology

What a great morning for a new CASology challenge! With Mother's Day this weekend, we wanted to provide some inspiration. 

I wanted to go against my normal style for Mommie's Day...and trust me when I say that it was soooo hard leaving my flower stamps alone :) I used this new (to me) set called Rainbow Wishes by Concord & 9th. I'm so excited about the other possibilities for this set! The hearts in the background are from an old stencil. I really love the outcome 💛

Colors of the Mother AFRICA

Hey hey! It's another week with a very cool prompt at CASology. 

I was inspired by 2 things this week: the Pan-African colors of gold, green, and red and the tribal design aesthetic of Dina Wakely's "Primitive Icons" stamp set. I kept my design along the edges of my card and did some loose watercoloring. I loved the trees, hears and sun rays in this set! The "love" sentiment that comes with it was perfect!

Peek-a-boo at CASology

This is a fun challenge and I hope you can "see through" our antics at CASology!

Using acetate in a card can be tricky. You have to think about adhesives, the inside of the card, 

how to put your greeting, etc. This always stretching my brain...and tests my photo skills lol.

My secret to adhesives and acetate - use sheets of double-sided adhesive (like Stick-It sheets) or

run embellishments through a Xyron sticker maker. The back side of everything is evenly covered (usually) and looks so much cleaner from the inside :)

Treasures in the OCEAN at CASology

We're inviting to join us at CASology to swim around with us for our 2-week challenge.

To make this card, I took a light gray cardstock, die cut it into a tag and covered it with Broken China 

Distress Oxide ink. I used a wave die to cut out a scrap piece of cardstock so that I could use it as a stencil. Starting at the bottom of the tag, I swirled on some Cracked Pistachio distress ink in three layers. I moved my homemade stencil over a smidge or two with each line. 

The die cut nautical images are suspended using silver thread to match the silver embossing of the sentiment. I hope you enjoy!

BOUNCE Outta Here at CASology

So I know you're trying to figure out how my card fits with

BOUQUET of Love at CASology

Happy CASology Tuesday!

This week we have a cue card that screams for all things floral.

I'm addicted to this stamp set by Simon Says Stamp! I recently did 50 wedding invitation (blog post coming soon) using this image and I love love love it. I wanted to use some different colors from the normal V-day (which if you remember, I don't celebrate lol). This is a combo or Tumbled Glass and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Inks and May Green and Yellow Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens. To keep it all one layer, I did a little bit of masking of the flower bouquet to build up the sentiment at the bottom of the card.

FROZEN Wonderland at CASology

It's been such a funny weather season here in Maryland, but many of you can 

relate to our CASology cue card this week: FROZEN.

I couldn't help it but to use this sentiment and snowflake combo :)

It says, "some of my best friends are FLAKES." #wheresthelie LOL!

I did some distress ink blending with some soft granite stamped snowflakes.

And of course, no card of mine is complete without some embossing.

This plaid holiday paper was calling my name...and of course I couldn't go without using a 

little pop of gold glitter tape (again lol). The stamp is sentiment stamp is from Precious Remembrance Shop and the holly berry and leaves are from Ellen Hutson.

In case you didn't know, I LOVE embossing powder. And yes, it takes some time masking off

intricate stamps, and avoiding getting the wrong color EP where you don't want it (trust me I know), but it's so worth the result!

Christmas Cards and a DT Call

This is only like THE MOST WONDERFUL time of the year!

I love the Christmas season...the energy, the shopping, the weather, the food :)

And, I have a brother who was born on Christmas Day (love you Nate).

I'm not only making cards, but also sharing them in hopes of joining a new DT. 

This week's inspiration is from Freshly Made Sketches 367.

My favorite holiday icon is the snowman, so I couldn't help but color this little guy.

He's from The Alleyway Stamps (no longer in business, sad face).

I dry embossed some snowflakes in vellum and added more 

to the background with clear versa mark ink.

I painted over the Copic coloring on his earmuffs and scarf with Nuevo glitter drops 

(a new favorite thing I'm doing).

In case you missed my Christmas card last week on Instagram (I was on vacay in the Cozumel), here's a non-traditional color combo that I love, also using FMS as an inspiration!
