Celebrating FATHERs at CASology

It's almost that time to celebrate the Dads, Fathers, Pops, Dadas, Papas...whatever name they go by.
At CASology, we are joining the celebration!

I had this loopy idea to make a skinny, wide card and only use a a corner of it...and this was my mashup :) I intentionally chose black and brown ink for the mustache, inking the stamp half and half, as an expression for the social injustice we're fighting with black and brown people everyday.

The mustache stamp is from Tim Holtz, the stars and hearts are from Concord & 9th, the sentiment is from Avery Elle. I decided to grunge up the edge of the little slip of paper on which I stamped the sentiment for a more "manly" appeal :)

Be sure to pop in with the other DT members to see their Daddy's Day creations over the next 2 weeks!

ZODIAC Birthday with CASology

I love all things astrology! Science, philosophy, fun...whatever you want to call it, it's truly written in the stars :) For the next 2 weeks, the CASology cue card is all about the cosmos:

Please join me in wishing my mom an awesome birthday tomorrow!

To keep my card CAS, I die cut a little square of watercolor paper on which to create my galaxy scene. I used 3 different Dr. Phil Martin's Hydrus watercolors (Ultramarine, Phthalo Blue, and Cobalt Violet). I love these because a little really goes a long way! Using a white gel pen, I freehand drew the Aries zodiac constellation and splattered on some watered-down white acrylic paint for the stars. I ran some clear Wink of Stella glitter pen across the entire scene. The moon and sentiment are from an awesome starry stamp set from Hero Arts. I have to admit, Mustard Seed Distress Ink is my absolute favorite yellow ink ever lol :)

I hope you pop in to see the dreamy cards from the DT & Guest Designer.

Go Fly a KITE at CASology

Making cards is my happy place! No matter how crazy, weird, or unpredictable the world is - you can always color :) Our 2-week CASology challenge is up and the cue card is:

I saw the kite in this super cute stamp set from MFT, called Adorable Elephants, and I had to whip out my Copic markers and take the plunge! I also have a friend who is going through it with all of this COVID-19 life stuff and I had to give her an uplifting message.

I cut out a tag from Spectrum Noir Ultra Smooth Premium Cardstock - I use this for 99% of my Copic coloring and love it! I used a cloud border die and a spare piece of plastic sheeting to make the stencil for the clouds. I used Broken China and Stormy Sky Distress Ink sponged on in layers

Since the stamp set comes with lots of ellies and lots of add-ons, I stamped the ellie first, then the kite, then the butterfly. I stamped a 2nd kite on a scrap corner of the same type of paper so that I could color it, cut it out, and pop it up for dimension. The sentiment is from MFT as well, but I used a Simon Says Stamp die for the "you" and coated it in glossy accents. For a CAS card, these seems kinda complicated lol.

Copic Markers
Grays: T3, T5, T6
Pinks: R81, R83, R85
Oranges/Reds: YR4, YR16, R35
Blues: B60, B63, B66
Purples: BV02, V17
Greens: G02, G07

Be sure to check out the other DT Members...this ellie set was popular!

BeauTIful at CASology

Okay, so many of you are in your homes for the next couple of weeks (I work in healthcare...and retail, so that's not happening over here LOL). CASology would love to see your creativity in our gallery! I'm drinking plenty of this cue card:

I'll admit, I also took a little bit of liberty with the interpretation of the cue card too :)
Never be afraid to add your own twist to card challenges!
This font is from Altenew, called Filled Alpha Stamp Set, and instead of stamping the lines on the insides of the letters (comes with the stamp set), I just drew the lines by hand.
I can't tell you how many times I looked at that word to make sure I had actually spelled "beautiful" correctly :)

Don't forget to head over to the other DT members' blogs to see their creativity in action!

CRYSTAL Clear at CASology

Crystals, gems, blingy things...this 2-week CASology cue card is sure to shine!

Do you ever sit down to make a card with a clear picture in your head of how you want it to look and get to the finished product and go, "WHOA! How did I get here?? But I love it!"
So that happens to me all the time...and this card was one of those :)

I found some Shimmer Sheets (Elizabeth Craft Designs) and picked a purplish-pink one. I stamped the heart (from Neat and Tangled's "Heart of Gold" stamp set) in black Archival Ink and fussy cut it out.  TIP: I used archival because it works great on non-porous surfaces.
The sentiment is from Ellen Hutson's "Spread the Sparkle" stamp set. I did an ombre effect going from black and dark purple to light purple.

If you head to my IG page, you can see a quick video of the shimmer effect!

The DT has some great interpretations of the cue card that might help get your creative juices flowing to play along with us and maybe win a prize from STAMPlorations!

Put It on REPEAT at CASology

Welcome to 2020! Even the year is playing along with our cue card this week :)

One of my absolute favorite color combinations is red, black, and white. This was a little bit of an experiment because I knew I wanted the lips to be see through. I also wanted to use my new Punchinella die (I also picked up the matching stamp, so stay tuned). I stamped and heat embossed on a small sheet of thick clear plastic made for crafts. Learning lessons for heat embossing on plastic: 1- slow and steady wins the race LOL and 2- it's moldable for a few seconds after each heating, so that's how I unwrinkled the plastic as it curled and warped. I'm super happy with the outcome!

The die is Punchinella from Neat and Tangled; the lips are from Smooches by Lil' Inker Designs ; and the sentiment and heart are from Hello, Beautiful by Simon Says Stamp.

Shoot over to my IG page to see close ups and the little hint of sparkle I snuck in there :) And definitely check out the other DT members---we have 2 new talented ladies to welcome, Deepti and Sandie!
