Getting a Little Buggy at CASology

Hi there! It's time to pull out your creepy, crawly critter stamps and
join CASology this week for our new cue card!

This cute and funny little bug stamp from Whipper Snapper Designs was just the ticket for my card this week. I did a little watercoloring using Inktense pencils and added a simple, typed and computer-printed sentiment.

I don't know if you spotted anything a little off about my card, but I didn't see it until I had already taken the photo LOL. To make the washi border, I rolled out 2 strips of the tape and layered them...somehow, it matches up on the left, but not the right....hmmm. Roll with the punches, right :)

Time to check out the DT inspirations for this week's buggy challenge.
Please say hi to our guest designer too!

CUT All the Things with Stamplorations

We're cutting up over at CASology this week, so grab your dies, die cutting machines, scissors, X-acto knives, or whatever your crafty cutting weapon of choice is and join us!

When I really want to make an impact, I reach for black. Black and white, black and pops of bright colors, monochromatic shades of black and gray...real eye-catchers!

When I saw the die STAMPlorations sent to me for this challenge, I knew it was gonna be a negative space kinda day lol. I really wanted to highlight how "wonderful" and bold this font cuts. I watercolored the sentiment using the Inktense Blocks I reviewed weeks ago here and on my YouTube channel.

Tip: Sketch a super light pencil line to mark the word and borders of the negative to make sure you color the letters completely and with different colors. It also prevents coloring outside of the edges. If you're using watercolor, the pencil will not erase afterwards, so use a really light hand.

The rest of the DT is "die"ing to show you their inspirations! And certainly don't forget our guestie and fab sponsor.

On My Craft Table with Inktense Blocks

Am I the only one who buys art supplies and lets them sit in the packaging for weeks waiting on just the right project or chance to use them?? Good to know you're shaking your head no and I'm not alone :)

I bought these Derwent Inktense Blocks a couple of months ago and used them for the first time today and I'm in L-O-V-E! I have a large set of the Inktense Pencils, so I knew to expect rich, saturated color when I hit them with water, but whoa! A little goes a long way and you can very easily layer colors. Here's a quick 2-minute demo.

TIP: In order to see what the color would be when I wet it, I glued a thin strip of watercolor paper (10 ½ in. x ¼ in.) on the railing along each side of the blocks, then used a water brush to transfer the color. Depending on your adhesive of choice, be careful not to get the glue on the top side of the paper, otherwise it'll act as a resist and you won't be able to lay down color in that area.

I wanted to step outside my comfort zone, so I asked a friend for 3 bright colors. I was told, yellow, orange, and green...hmmm, definitely not the three I would have chosen to play with first. The end result is this card!

One of the characteristics I adore the most with Inktense products, is their ability to remain permanent when dry. I tried this out by layering some of the green on top of the orange (normally you'd get mud) and got a great effect!

If you like bright, vivid colors; the capability to layer colors without worry; a portable product (even though the tin doesn't snap closed tightly), then don't let the price point ($48 for the 36 count I purchased) deter you!

Thanks for joining me for #onmycrafttable and have a great day!
