LOL at a Yeti for CASology

How did we make it to September already?!! Well, I guess I can give into the holiday card designs now :) For the next 2 weeks, we want to see whatever you like to laugh at...or maybe something that is laughing on your card. Be creative; we can't wait to see your work!

I love this new stamp set I grabbed in the last few weeks, right before (sadly) Craftin Desert Divas went out of business. This snowboarding yeti looks like he is having a ball. I cut a strip of a stitched hill, colored the this dude with B0000, B00, B02, C1, C3, C7 Copic markers (colors I drew upon from the challenge below), and mounted him on top with a bit of Tumbled Glass Distress Inks swirled behind him. Summer GRILL Fest at CASology

Do you like to throw down on the grill? I love anything with a charcoal-kissed flavor...

well anything vegetarian :) Our CASology challenge for the next 2 weeks is hot, hot, hot!

I used the stamp set from Hero Arts entitled "Happy Dad's Day". There is a cute little grill that I stamped in ombre fashion using soft granite shadow ink and black Copic friendly ink.

When masking, remember to stamp the image that you want to be in the foreground first, then mask it off and layer your other images. Here, I stamped the black grill at the bottom first, then masked it off and stamped the darker gray grill (I used the same soft granite ink, but just stamped it 3 times to darken the color), then masked it off and stamped the top lightest gray grill.

I then colored in the grill using C9, C7, and C5 Copic markers. A tip to making round things look shiny and round - leave a curved highlight right at the edge and don't forget the catch light on the surface.

I think this would be a great guy card :) Time to blaze over to the other DT blog pages!

Keep CALM at CASology

This week we're tapping into our inner Zen.

I was amazed by the interpretations by the DT of this cue card

and can't wait to see what you create!

I wanted to use a floating lotus blossom. The water is so peaceful to me. I had the perfect stamp set from STAMPlorations (Lotus Love). I stamped the lotus flower first, then masked it off so that I could stamp the lily pad. I colored everything in using Zig Clean Color brush pens and did some watercoloring. The sentiments that I used on this card were from Simon Says Stamp (One With Nature). The last little step I did was to sponge on some Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide ink around the bottom.

Have a Berry Good SUMMMER with Casology

It's getting to that time of year! We are loving the weather and CASology has the perfect cue card:

These berries are from a really old Hero Arts set. I colored the strawberries with Zig Clean Color brush pens...using a little masking action for the bottom two, then I fussy cut and popped up the last one on foam adhesive.

A little more masking in the right to do some ink blending in Mowed Lawn Distress Ink, topped with a Dyan Reavely leaf stamp. This awesome sentiment is from Concord & 9th. Lots of technique, CAS result :)
